  1. Hinton's 5th Annual Mocktail War

    Family Friendly taste test of non-alcoholic drinks, in support of FASD Awareness Day. Vote for your favourite and participate in other fun activities. There Youth Centre will be hosting a BBQ at the event, to raise funds for their programming.

    The Hinton Voice presents the 34th Annual Terry Fox Run. This 5 km route can be walked, ran or biked to help raise funds for Cancer Research. This is your opportunity to continue Terry Fox’s dream of finding a cure for cancer. No entry fee. No minimum donation. *Dog (on leash) and Stroller-Friendly Event* Refreshments to follow!

  1. Lunch and Learn: HIV & Aging

    September 9, 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM @ To Be Determined

    This fall, HIV West Yellowhead is hosting a series of educational opportunities in Jasper, Hinton, Edson, and Whitecourt. These sessions will take place over the lunch hour so that you do not have to take time out of your already busy schedule to attend. Bring your lunch and join us each month to learn and share your knowledge about HIV and other health concerns. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Cost is $10 to help cover travel costs. If cost is an obstacle to attend please contact me. The September workshop is HIV and Aging. As innovation in HIV treatment continues, people living with HIV are living out their full lives. This is an amazing achievement over the last 30 years and it means that only now complications with HIV and aging are being discovered. In this session, we will explore some of the issues that people over the age of 50 who are living with HIV might face and ways to improve health.

  1. HIV West Yellowhead Annual General Meeting

    September 16, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Best Western Hotel - Oak Meeting Room

    HIV West Yellowhead will be hosting its Annual General Meeting in Edson this year at the Best Western Hotel on Tuesday September 16 from 7-9pm. We are currently seeking new board members from Hinton, Edson, Whitecourt, and Jasper to fill the positions of: - Board Chair - Secretary - Director We cover all expenses for board work including travel / mileage, accommodation, meals, training / education and pet care. If you have any questions or would like to know more about joining our organization, please don’t hesitate to contact Andrea. We will be showcasing our new harm reduction and needle exchange program as well as providing appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages. If you would just like to check us out and are not sure about joining the organization, please join us anyways! We are happy to have anyone join us for the sake of learning more about our organization, HIV, Hep C and Sexually Transmitted Infections.

  2. AFD Airbag Event

    September 12, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Between the Curling Rink and Hinton Centre on Switzer Drive

    AFD's Acrobag returns to Hinton! After a steep approach from the Hinton hill, riders fly up a ramp to perform flips and tricks with a pillowy safe landing. Participants under 18 must have parent or guardian present to sign waiver.

  3. Gravity Cup Downhill Bike Race

    September 13, 10:00 AM - September 14, 5:00 PM @ Bike Park / Trails

    This family friendly event is open to riders of all ages and skill level with categories ranging from beginner to expert. 2014 features a larger cash purse of $4000, numerous prizes presented by sponsors as well as attendance by legendary Downhill Rider and Director of Good Times, Brett Tippie after a year’s hiatus.

  4. 3rd Annual Jules Oilfield 'Dirt Jam Under the Lights'

    September 19, 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM @ Bike Park / Trails

    Join us at the Dirt Jumps for the 3rd Annual 'Jules Oilfield Dirt Jam Under the Lights'. For the 3rd year running, Jules Oilfield will be donating the lights to light up the jumps. Session the jumps under the big lights with great tunes.
